La Missión is a culmination of generations of experience the Sanz family has acquired as vineyard owners in Rueda combined with the creative talents of the latest generation, Marco and Richard Sanz. La Missión comes from 100 year old vines planted in sandy soils in Pollos, a property that has been in the Sanz family since the 19th century. These Verdejo vines are the source of the massale selection that Menade has been using to revitalize their other sites in Rueda because of their small berries, bunches and thicker skins. Naturally disease resistant and with greater aromatic complexity, and with the low yields that come with age, La Missión is made from organically farmed grapes that are fermented by natural yeasts in stainless steel tanks. It is aged in tank, amphorae and neutral 500L French oak demi-muids for 10 months, followed by two years in the bottle before release.
