Vignerons de Mancey

The extraordinary Crémant de Bourgogne Brut Réserve is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, 10% Aligoté and 10% Gamay grapes grown around the town of Mancey, in the northernmost part of the Macon region, just south of the Côtes Chalonnaise. The grapes from about 4 hectares of vineyards dedicated to Crémant production are harvested and vinified separately. They are lightly pressed to extract the finest aromas and flavors and eliminate any bitter traces. Only the juice of the first pressing is used. After the juice is clarified, it ferments in tanks for 15 days at low temperature. The young wines are assembled, aged in tanks on their lees, and undergo malolactic fermentation. The base wine is transformed into sparkling wine by the traditional “méthode champenoise.” The bottles are riddled over a 13-month period before degorging, and finished with a low 7.7 grams per liter of dosage. The Mancey Crémant de Bourgogne is a classic French sparkling wine, with toasty flavors co-mingling with lively citrus and pear fruit. It represents outstanding value. About 3500 cases are made annually.
