Our quest for the most elegant and flavorful maritime grape varieties brought us to the hills of Darling, off the Cape West Coast. This unspoiled growing region enjoys the cool Atlantic breeze, situated just a few kilometers away from the ocean. Vines look to the maritime influence for a slow ripening process, which produce wonderfully aromatic and fresh expressions of grapes such as Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, among others.
Long before us, brave mariners rounded the Cape in search of exotic spices, of which many were traded in the historical Stone Town in Zanzibar. As we have found Sauvignon Blanc in Darling, those before us found cloves in Stone Town, with the desire to enhance the flavor of everyday life.
