Split Creek Farms, a project from C. Donatiello winemaker Chris Donatiello, draws its inspiration from the early days of California wine country. It was a simple time, when farmers gathered at the local general store to unwind and discuss the news of the day. These early pioneers would swap stories, share vineyard practices, and make friends. All over the West, these stores would sell staple goods and general merchandise, such as bread, milk, eggs, bolts of cloth, and pins. Around here, they also sold wine, sometimes from a barrel or tank. While times have changed, and general stores have gone away, it’s this spirit of the past that we embrace: making 21st century wines and selling them in a 19th century way.
