Crocus is a partnership between internationally renowned winemaker, Malbec specialist, and “oenetrepreneur” Paul Hobbs, and Bertrand Vigouroux. Paul’s work with Malbec in Argentina brought worldwide attention to the variety and provided inspiration for new styles to emerge. Additionally, Vigoroux’s family has over 150 years of experience with Malbec in Cahors, where the grape has flourished since Roman times. Crocus blends a single Malbec clone grown within three historic Vigouroux family properties in distinct terraces of the Lot River Valley.
Decanter Magazine contributor, Steven Spurrier, recently named 2011 Crocus as one of his six “Recommended Wines” saying: “The combination of star winemaker Paul Hobbs and veteran owner Bertrand Vigouroux has produced a fragrant wine with compact yet lifted fruit from the limestone soil and fine autumnal flavours.”
